A message from MIDDLE SCHOOL EAST

Dear PVMS East Parents,

PV East students now have their own Instagram. Follow us on east_student_vision to get the latest on all things East. You can also follow us on Facebook and Twitter.

PSSA/Keystone:, These high stakes assessments are very important as they are used to evaluate your individual child’s progress as well as our school performance as a whole. Please help your child get a good night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast on the days of testing. Thank you for your support. ELA PSSA is all done and we will be taking the Math PSSA on Monday.

We will be conducting the PSSAs and Keystone Exams on the following dates:

  • PSSA Science – April 23 & 24 (2 sessions) – Grade 8
  • Keystone – May 16 & 17  (2 sessions) – Algebra Students

Math-A-Thon: Doing Math. SAVING LIVES.  During the week of April 3rd, the St. Jude MATH-A-THON will kick-off at Middle School East. Students will receive a MATH-A-THON booklet and fundraising materials from their math teachers. During the following three weeks math teachers may ask students to complete math activities as homework or to just “do math” for fun! Please encourage your child to participate…every penny PVMSE students collect helps save lives!

Since 1962, St. Jude has treated children who are battling cancer and other deadly diseases and no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude. For more information visit: mathathon.stjude.org.  Once at the site, search for schools located in "Collegeville"

or

PVMSE site: http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Math/Math?pg=entry&fr_id=83685

Fundraising materials will be due on: Wednesday, April 25th

Daily 24 Contest: Through May 1st, Math Club is running a daily 24 game contest. One student from each grade will win a voucher for a free snack in the cafeteria.

How does it work? During morning announcements, a set of 4 numbers will be read and posted in the library, MSE Instagram and on the MSE 24 Google Classroom Page. Throughout the day, figure out how to make the number 24 from the four numbers. You can add, subtract, multiply and divide. Use all four numbers on the card, but use each number only once. You do not have to use all four operations. Students may submit an answer daily in the MSE library, on the MSE Google 24 Classroom page (code xrfi8g), or on the link located on the MSE website. Be sure to enter by 9 PM!

April 20's numbers are: 24, 8, 6, 2

Please read the attachment regarding the  the Daily 24 Competition.

Please be sure to provide the school nurse with documentation of these vaccines to avoid exclusion at the start of the next school year. See the attached flyer for more information.

Comprehensive Planning/Special Education Plan Update:

It’s time to begin Comprehensive Planning here at PV. Every three years, school districts are required to create a plan that helps "set the course" for the district over the next three years.  A Steering Committee made up of stakeholders (employees, parents, students, Board members and community members) has been formed to lead this effort and is already working toward developing a mission, vision, and goals for our district.

We hope to provide helpful information throughout this process through website updates and emails. Part of this process will also involve us asking you for feedback about our district through surveys. Keep an eye out for future requests. In the meantime, you can keep up to date on Comprehensive Plan by visiting the district website for information. Check the “News from around the district” for updates or click on the “About” tab and select “Comprehensive Planning” from the drop down menu.
