Dear PV East Parents,

I hope that you and your family are well. These are unprecedented times in which we find ourselves. On behalf of the entire faculty and staff here at East, I want to reassure you that our school community, which we have worked so hard to build, continues into this new virtual voyage. As we live through this global health crisis, please do not hesitate to reach out to administration, school counselors, and teachers should you need anything.

With the recent announcement from Governor Wolf that schools across the state will remain closed indefinitely, and that the ‘stay at home’ orders will be extended until April 30th, our district has decided to transition from learning enhancements - essentially review work - to new learning. Last week our faculty and all staff were busy preparing for this new direction of instruction, and we are excited to re-engage with all of our students. We truly miss them!

We continue to send out Daily Announcements as well as a PVTV link via email. Our teams  also continue to post homework assignments on their team pages. Today our teachers started posting assignments in their Google Classrooms as well. See the middle level schedule below. We ask that you encourage your child/ren to check his/her/their school email each day as well as Google Classrooms for assignments to complete.  Please review Dr. Russell’s email from Friday (as well as past correspondence), and check the district’s website/social media for specific information regarding both accessing new learning and academic expectations. PVSD has a PVSD Virtual Voyage - information for Families page to support you.

East’s school counselors will be available to our students daily, and they plan to share updates

periodically.  Students should reach out to their counselors with any counseling- and/or

scheduling-related need(s). Please check out our Counseling Center page for more information.

The Safe2Say tip line is still active during this time.  This tip line will enables one to send

anonymous tips to notify the proper authorities to any number of concerns, such as, but

not limited to: mental health concerns, personal safety, drugs/alcohol abuse, bullying

and more.  There are several ways to report a concern: you can call 1-844-safe2say,

go to the Safe2Say, or download the app.  Your tip will be forwarded to an appropriate

person, and administrators and/or counselors will do our best to address the issue.

Don’t forget, in an emergency, please call 911!

Also, during the school closure, MS East will continue to run SAP (our Student

Assistance Program); we will continue to take referrals and provide connections for

students and families.  The mission of the Pennsylvania Network for Student Assistance

Services is to provide leadership for developing a safe and drug-free environment and

mental health wellness in schools and communities across the commonwealth.  Please

contact a school counselor for more information.

Please don’t forget that East is still here to help and support you and your student(s).

Please reach out to us through email.

Stay safe and be well!

Dr. Seamus Clune, Principal
