A message from MIDDLE SCHOOL EAST

Dear PVMS East Parents,

Many middle school students are planning to attend the PVHS vs. Pottsgrove HS football game tonight. They are expecting a large crowd. Please attend the game with your middle school student. We want everyone to have a safe and exciting evening cheering our PV Vikings on to victory. Go Vikings!!

End of Marking Period: Please note that the first marking period will be ending on Thursday, November 2nd. Your child should make sure that all assignments have been submitted to their teachers. If you have any concerns please contact your child’s teacher.

Attendance/AbsencesIf you know your child will be absent from school, please be sure to contact Mrs. Nicole DePalma, our counseling secretary, at ndepalma@pvsd.org or by calling our office at 610-409-8580.  For detailed information about our attendance procedures, please refer to the Student Handbook  Please remember to send in excuse notes, detailing the date of the absence, reason for the absence, and a parent signature, within three days of the absence(s).

Home & School Envelope Campaign Our Home & School Association sent envelopes home on the first day of school for their annual fundraising campaign. The funds raised will be used to complete the final phase of the library re-design. Please consider supporting our Home & School Association.

Mix It Up Lunch: On Tuesday, October 31st we will be participating in Mix It Up at Lunch Day! During Mix It Up at Lunch Day, students are all given tickets and must sit at the table with the number that corresponds to the number on their ticket. The idea is to get students sitting with others they may not already know. In between bites of lunch, students will take part in ice-breaker activities designed to get them to learn a little bit about the people at their table.

Halloween: If your child is ‘trick or treating” this Halloween, please encourage your child to travel in a group and bring a flashlight. We ask students to have their parents check all candy before eating any of it. We also request that students do not wear costumes in school. Anything that a child does wear should always comply with our dress code policy.

Candy: Gum chewing is not permitted in school. Also, please encourage your child to keep their candy at home. We traditionally notice a dramatic increase in candy consumption after October 31st. Thank you for your support in promoting healthy food choices.

Spring Musical: Our Spring Musical, The Lion King, Jr. , will be under the direction of Mrs. Kristen Schooley. I have attached a flyer with information regarding mandatory parent meetings and audition dates. The performance dates are March 2nd, 3rd  & 4th , 2018.

On behalf of the PVMS East staff, we wish you an enjoyable weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Seamus Clune

Principal
